Yep, that’s not a typo. I didn’t just receive my M.D, J.D, or Ph.D…I got my “B.D.” as J. Vernon McGee puts it. My “backside of the desert” degree, again! It’s not my first one and, I’m sure, won’t be the last.
“What is the backside of the desert degree?” you ask. Well, I first discovered J. Vernon McGee’s quote when studying about Moses. I was teaching a Bible study on “The Theology of Aging” and studying God’s use of those of us over 40. Of course, Moses came to mind because he was 80 years old when the LORD called him into action. Exodus 3:9-11 tells us God heard the cry of His people and called Moses to deliver His agenda to Pharaoh. The account goes on to state:
